**Position Definition**:The **Compensation and Benefits Specialist** is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing employee benefits and compensation. This position will work closely with leaves and workers compensation processing.

**Relationship**:The **Compensation and Benefits Specialist** shall be directly responsible to the Human Resources Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Education/Experience: _
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Compensation, Health Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Dental Insurance, and Life Insurance, preferred.

**Authority**:The **Compensation and** **Benefits Specialist **will have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures.

**Functions/Duties/Responsibilities**:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. In accordance with both state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.
- Essential:_
- Acts as a liaison with all insurance carriers, COBRA administrator, and Flex 125 Administrator.
- Accurately completes monthly health, dental, life, FSA, COBRA, Employee Assistance Program, long-term disability, and other insurance billing.
- Accurately enrolls and terminates health, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance on a monthly basis.
- Maintains current knowledge and trends of ACA, health, dental, LTD, Life plans, Flex 125 plans, Flex Spending Accounts, federal Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and Workers Compensation.
- Accurately maintains and processes Act 93 cafeteria plan reimbursements, course approvals and reimbursements for tuition and vision submissions.
- Accurately and timely invoices retirees and part-time staff members who purchase insurance.
- Maintains and enhances benefit offerings and information on CLIU #21 website.
- Develops and coordinates wellness programs/fairs at CLIU #21.
- Ensures all benefit communications are accurate and updated annually.
- Coordinates COBRA notifications with 3rd party administrator and verifies coverage is accurate and billed appropriately.
- Coordinates and prepares all communications regarding annual open enrollment for health and dental insurance and Flex Spending Accounts, including COBRA participants and retirees.
- Prepares and carries out employee orientation for assigned areas.
- Coordinates Employee Assistance Program and annually reviews value of the program.
- Prepares benefit reports for Human Resources Manager and Director of Human Resources, as requested.
- Communicates effectively with Human Resources-Payroll to ensure employee contributions and flexible spending accounts are properly handled.
- ACA tracking and reporting 1094, 1095, W-2, and Pre-tax reporting.
- Provides reports and analysis for employee negotiations.
- Prepares the teacher salary schedule in coordination with Supervisor of Payroll Services for Human Resources Manager and Director of Human Resources
