**Water Safety Instructors - **Part Time, Flexible Schedule**

**Westwood Recreation Department**

**_Responsibilities and duties include the following_**:

- Prepares, plans and implements all aspects of the American Red Cross Programs and presentations as detailed in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety manual.
- Plans, prepares and conducts effective and safe swim lessons.
- Implements emergency protocols as the situation dictates.
- Upholds and enforces facility rules and regulations.
- Evaluates participants and recommends placement for future classes.
- Completes course reports and documentation.
- Ensures the safety of participants and monitors swimming activity to prevent accidents.
- Performs other related work as required.

**_Qualifications and experience:_** Must be at least 16 years of age. Prior experience working with children in a group setting desired. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to react quickly and calmly in various situations are essential.

**_Special Requirements/Certifications Needed:_** Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification to include CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification, and Water Safety Instructor Certification required.

**_Salary:_** This is a part-time, non-benefit position with a starting rate of $18.50 per hour.

**_Schedule:_** Flexible hours including week nights and weekend shifts. Will partner with you to create a cooperative work schedule.
