POOL SUPERVISORS - PART TIME

The Westwood Recreation Department has several part-time openings for Pool Supervisors. We're looking for dependable and responsible aquatics leaders to oversee the safety and well-being of pool participants, as well as supervise part-time staff. Westwood's Pool Supervisors have a shared goal to provide a high-quality experience for patrons and uphold the Westwood Recreation Department's core values of safety, fun, responsibility and respect.

Responsibilities and duties include the following:
  • Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors in the Aquatics area.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations.
  • Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
  • Prioritize the safety of participants and monitor swimming activity to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure the pool is well-maintained; report the need for equipment or repairs to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Check pool chemical levels. Clean or perform pool maintenance.
  • Keep daily records of pool usage, incident reports, and water quality.
  • Address concerns from pool patrons.
  • Supervise part-time aquatics staff members on duty.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Qualifications and experience: High School graduate; 21+ years of age preferred. Prior aquatics experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to react quickly and calmly in various situations are essential. Must be able to exercise good judgment. Ability to work with individuals of various ages and backgrounds. A focus on customer service is important. A positive attitude is a plus

Special Requirements/Certifications Needed: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification to include CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification.

Shifts Available: Early mornings, weekday evenings and weekends. Flexible scheduling available.

Salary: This is a part-time, non-benefit position with a starting rate of $19.50 per hour. An additional $2.00 per hour differential for early morning shifts.
