Job Title: Center Director

This position is responsible for managing their Tysons Corner Children’s Center site which includes managing the day-to-day Center operations, programming, enrollment, staff, and facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that all Center responsibilities and programs are implemented according to TCCC’s overall guidelines. The director is responsible for ensuring a warm, accepting Center environment is created that encourages the social, emotional and academic growth of all children enrolled in the program and that activities that are appropriate to the developmental needs of the children are implemented by staff.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for managing the infant, pre-toddler, toddler, preschool, pre-kindergarten, junior kindergarten (if applicable) and summer camp programs of their respective site. This position directly manages the Associate Director (if applicable), Assistant Director, and all teaching staff at their site.

**What You’ve Done**:
Minimum Experience, Skills and Education
- 4 year degree in ECE or child development related field and 1+ years of experience as an early childhood Center Director.
- Associates Degree and 4+ years of experience as an early childhood Center Director.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a childcare center with more than a 70+ child capacity.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education techniques and methods from ages 2 months through 7 years.
- Strong knowledge of childcare operations serving children from 2 months through 7 years specifically with recruiting, orienting, and developing team members and serving as a staff liaison to management.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage own time effectively.
- Ability to communicate ideas orally and written so others will understand.
- Ability to consistently produce timely, high quality, error-free deliverables.
- Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and Center management.
- In coordination with the Executive Director, provide input to and implementation of TCCC approved programming and curriculum.
- Know and comply with the State childcare licensing regulations, OSHA guidelines and Health and Safety Practices of the Center. Ensure that all staff complies with state licensing and TCCC policies and procedures.
- Implement the TCCC policies and procedures for the Center, as outlined in the Parent Handbook and Employee Handbook, Establish and keep current local Center policies and procedures as necessary.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and maintain program standards and to set classroom performance goals and objectives.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels and appropriate staffing patterns that appropriately meet TCCC ratios/standards.
- Ensure potential hazards or unsafe conditions are resolved immediately and that facilities and classrooms meet licensing requirements.
- Orient staff and volunteers regarding the classroom activities, programming guidelines, and playground expectations to ensure consistency.
- Ensure the safety, well being and security of all children at all times.
- Attend, lead and participate in all staff meetings and training sessions. Plan, coordinate, and execute semi-annual staff in-service training days in conjunction with the Executive Director.
- Promote the TCCC Commitment to Care to existing parents and conduct Center tours for prospective enrollees displaying a friendly, professional demeanor at all times.
- Attend all Special Center functions during and after Center hours (except when these functions occur during pre-approved vacation) that involve parents.
- Ensure a safe environment for all activities. Enforce safety rules and report/treat injuries.
- Assist in classrooms as needed and other duties as assigned.
- Prepare and submit budget requests and recommendations. Determine allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment and authorize purchases. Coordinate the purchasing of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain staff training files and ensure all staff receives necessary and/or mandatory training as required by licensing and TCCC policies.
- Create and publish Annual Calendar of Center events (e.g., special events, field trips, celebrations, staff appreciation) in coordination with the Executive Director.
- Operate the Center within the budget guidelines provided by the Board of Directors. Ensure that staffing patterns do not exceed budget.
- Maintain a strong and positive working relationship with local childcare licensing agent/agencies and assure compliance with established standards and center-specific licensing requirements.
