**Position Overview**:
The GED Services and Testing Specialist uses a student-centered approach to include learners as collaborators in their journey toward earning their high school diploma. This person will provide comprehensive coaching, supportive services, meticulous coordination of student assessments and appointments, and efficient data management and reporting. They will work closely with the GED and College Services Director and various departments to coordinate services and meet performance targets.

**Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Student Assessment and Registration**
- Communicates the GED testing process to students, coordinates targeted Q&A sessions with pre-GED students, facilitates personalized 1-on-1 coaching sessions for students (ABE 5/6) to discuss high school pathway options, and delivers informative presentations during orientation
- Adheres to policies and procedures for identifying test readiness
- Administers a variety of assessments, including the GED Ready practice tests, GED computer and calculator tutorials, and the NorthStar computer test, to evaluate student readiness thoroughly
- Assists students with creating, registering, and validating MyGED Accounts
- Ensures student compliance with identification and residency requirements

**Comprehensive Coaching and Supportive Services**
- Develops individualized testing plans and regular check-ins with GED Pathway students
- Collaborates with principals, assistant principals, and teachers to ensure students have personalized academic plans and customized schedules tailored to their needs and goals
- Conducts regular meetings with academic leadership, teachers, and Student Support Specialists to evaluate student test readiness, share testing suggestions, address obstacles to success, and organize comprehensive wraparound services and support for GED Pathway students
- Utilizes the GED Enhanced Score Report to create an independent study plan and ensures students have access to essential resources such as books, tutoring, calculators, and study materials necessary for the GED test
- Navigates students through the testing process and schedules all exam appointments
- Organizes activities utilizing evidence-based strategies to cultivate student cohorts, support retention rates, and enhance test preparation. These initiatives may include informative workshops, educational boot camps, interactive activities, and enriching field trips.
- Partners with the workforce and career and college services to support students in setting and reaching their post-secondary objectives.
- Reaches out to disengaged learners to encourage their return and completion

**Data Management and Reports**
- Implements and maintains testing processes and systems for effective test execution
- Manages inventory of GED Ready and GED exam testing vouchers
- Enters all testing data and coaching session notes into the student information system
- Completes regular data quality checks to ensure accuracy and monitors PMF targets
- Prepares regular reports on student progress and celebrates their accomplishments
- Completes graduate exit procedures and orders initial GED diplomas and transcripts
- Archives monthly GED score reports, transcripts, and diplomas

GED Services and Testing Specialist

**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Experience**:

- Knowledge of Adult Basic Education and GED testing process
- Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students, and the community to achieve goals.
- Agreement with and commitment to the academic goals and philosophy of Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School
- Written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with school staff, the public, and representatives of other agencies
- Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills
- **Other Necessary Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, students, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
