Originally founded in 1997, Baskin Engineering is the first professional school at UC Santa Cruz. Over the past 25 years, Baskin Engineering has become a unique 21st century school of engineering and technology, characterized by evolutionary growth fueled by on-going research opportunities that open new areas of intellectual inquiry. Baskin Engineering has grown to include six academic departments, a variety of research centers and institutes, and has ambitious plans for further programmatic growth. The focus of Baskin Engineering educational programming is to instill strong basic knowledge for sound practice in science and ethical engineering for the well-being of society, and its diverse curricula facilitate creative thinking and prepare students for productive and rewarding careers. Baskin Engineering is focused on building collaborative connections and expanding instruction and research activities for faculty and students at UC Santa Cruz, both at its Santa Cruz campus and at its campus in Silicon Valley, the international center of technological innovation.
**JOB SUMMARY**
This position is part of a team dedicated to the Westside Research Park (WPR) and a member of Baskin Engineering Facilities group. Under general direction of the WRP Facilities Operations Manager, the Facilities Coordinator provides facilities operational support and implements and coordinates building management procedures and space planning activities. Implements and makes recommendations for new and revised procedures. Oversees various facilities-related operational activities. Has general knowledge about several operational functions. The Facilities Coordinator will liaise with external agencies on all aspects of building management, including safety and maintenance. Receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on new assignments.
**APPOINTMENT INFORMATION**
**Budgeted Salary**: $80,300 - $93,400/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

**JOB DUTIES**
75% - Facilities Management
- Serves as liaison with organization and external agencies regarding safety, access, maintenance, remodeling and construction activities.
- Coordinates with multiple units throughout the organization to provide a safe and secure facilities environment.
- Works with Physical Plant and IT Services to resolve routine maintenance impacting the Facility. Assists in the development of space allocation plans for management review.
- Maintains building related plans and procedures including access controls and security, emergency preparedness, commonly-encountered hazardous materials storage and disposal, crime prevention activities, fire safety inspection compliance and reporting.
- First point of contact on the Westside Research Park (WRP) emergency call-out list. Coordinates/assists emergency repairs and construction activities during and after work hours ensuring mínimal disruption to building occupants.
- Reviews and critiques from the facilities point of view documents for construction, including plans and specifications from outside consultants.
- Develops and maintains the WRP facilities shop inventory. Purchases supplies and equipment for the WRP Facility as needed using UC Santa Cruz, CruzBuy system and ProCard.
- Responsible for the coordination of WRP facilities events
