**About Columbia Child Development Center**

Since 1969, Columbia’s Child Development Center (CDC) has been one of the many ministry programs provided by Columbia Baptist Church to serve the community at large. The Center is a labor of love and is operated by the Church because it seeks to honor and model the love that Jesus has for children. As such, our work is rooted in our Christian faith, a close partnership with families and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. We are committed not only to serve families by providing high quality early childhood care and education (ECCE), but also to become leaders in faith-based ECCE. We are a subsidy vendor, licensed by the state of Virginia, and participate in Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5), Virginia’s quality rating and improvement system. In addition, several Center staff are certified CLASS observers, who routinely conduct in-house CLASS observations, and provide feedback as well as coaching to teachers.

**Curriculum and Instruction Specialist Position Summary**:
The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist is a school leader knowledgeable of ECCE developmentally appropriate practices, and inquiry-based learning. S/he works closely with the Senior Director to support and develop quality improvement plans, teacher professional development, career advancement pathways, and supervision and performance evaluation of teachers. The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist also collaborates with teachers training them in instructional strategies that support quality interactions (), including the effective use of VA Department of Education-approved curricula, specifically and. Working closely with Teacher Mentors, as well as modeling for and coaching teachers is a key aspect of this role. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits.

**Educational Background, Training, and Experience**:

- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field with graduate-level studies in curriculum and instruction. Current Toddler and/or Pre-K CLASS observer certification preferred.
- Experience working as a curriculum and instruction specialist, or equivalent, in a licensed early childhood education setting, elementary school, or curriculum development company.
- 10-hour course (current or must be completed within 90 days of hiring).
- (current or must be completed within 30 days of hiring).
- CPR/First Aid (current or must be completed within 30 days of hiring).
- MAT, AMAT (Allergy and Anaphylaxis Medication Administration Training), and MAT Auvi-Q (current preferred, but can be completed after hiring).

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Impeccable Christian conduct and character, work ethic, and personal presentation.
- Excellent English language communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to offer engaging and high-quality training to adult learners.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of adult learners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure without compromising output quality.
- Familiarity with VA Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers, and the Unified Virginia Quality Birth to Five System (VQB5).
- Technology agility, as well as fluent user of Microsoft Office, Google G Suite and similar platforms.
