Budget Analyst

In pursuit of excellence and to align with the University’s mission and strategic plan, this position will help to steward the University's resources through extensive financial analysis and reporting, which will enhance management's ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. **Duties**
- Assist the Director of Financial Planning and the Chief Financial Officer in managing sophisticated financial models used by University leadership for organization-wide decision making. Create financial reports, charts, and presentations for the Finance and Administration Board of Regents committee and University committees.
- Develop and maintain budget and financial reports with an emphasis on prospective analysis used by the Chief Financial Officer, Deans, and other executive leaders.
- In coordination with the financial planning team and University-wide budget managers, ensure sufficient departmental budget exists and manage budget adjustment entries by utilizing the University's ERP system, Oracle PeopleSoft.
- Collaborate and partner with undergraduate and graduate schools as well as operational areas to assist in the development of the University's annual budget and forecasts.
- Conduct detailed month-end variance analyses and ad-hoc analyses as needed. Investigate key drivers and causes of material budget variances and communicate those drivers through presentation building or written/verbal explanation.
- Train University-wide budget managers on the University's planning and budgeting system (Oracle PBCS), on budget building and financial reporting, as well as assist with ad-hoc requests.
- Provide tailored student data and financial information for surveys requested by various external entities, such as S&P and Moody's credit agencies, and analyze the results of surveys to conduct peer analysis and benchmarking.

**Skills and Qualifications**

Required: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in a business-related field (accounting, finance, economics, business, statistics, etc.). Experience with analytical tools; excellent critical thinking skills; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong PC skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Docs/Sheets.

Preferred: 1-2 years of budget analysis experience. Experience working with an EPM or ERP system, such as Oracle's PBCS or PeopleSoft.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position that may be eligible for remote or hybrid work in accordance with the University Policy Manual.

Expected Pay Range: $67,500 - $75,000 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
