**Job Summary**

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounts Payable Specialist for Berrien Springs Public Schools will be responsible for payment processing for a unique and innovative school district. The Business Office is responsible for on-campus programs along with state-wide alternative ed virtual learning centers. In addition, the district is an educational service provider to a cyber charter district.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Performs all activities related to payment processing including but not limited to coding of invoices and ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments in accordance with District purchasing policies
- Maintain vendor files
- Resolve statement discrepancies with vendors
- Responsible for year-end requirements such as 1099s
- Assists CFO with providing information to external auditors for annual financial statement audit
- Performs other tasks at the request of the CFO

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Associates degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field with two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in a school or other governmental entity preferred
- Prior knowledge of the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual Bulletin 1022) is preferred
- Skyward software experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Dependable, professional, self-directed and self-motivated
