NIET is seeking a Controller to manage the accounting function for a growing, dynamic organization in partnership with the CFO. Specifically, the Controller will oversee the Staff Accountant and will be responsible for all aspects of accounting related to the organization’s operations, including all accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel expense reimbursements, federal grant drawdowns, cash management, and the annual audit process and Form 990 submission.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Manage the general ledger and prepare and post entries as needed
- Oversee the Staff Accountant in processing accounts payable, including approximately 250 team member expense reimbursements monthly, and preparing monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Oversee and manage the recording of all revenue for the organization, including cash receipts process in partnership with the Billing Specialist and Staff Accountant
- Manage the federal grant drawdown process and ensure compliance with federal grant regulations, including reconciling grant drawdowns, G5, and grant budgets in partnership with the Federal Award Senior Manager
- Lead the annual financial statement audit process, including preparation of schedules and responding to external auditors’ requests
- Manage the required tax and information return filings (Forms 990 and 1099, various state taxes including property tax, sales & use tax, etc.)
- Assist the CFO in preparing monthly financial reports and support CFO in refining budgeting tools utilized by the organization
- Proactively assist in researching, developing, and implementing process improvements and more efficient procedures to enhance workflow while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as assigned by the CEO or CFO

**Recommended Qualifications**:

- CPA required
- BA/BS in Accounting
- Seven+ years accounting experience strongly preferred
- Mastery of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
- Experience with non-profit accounting and federal grants preferred
- Strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain an internal customer-service orientation, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment required
- Committed to continuous improvement

Pay: $74,724.34 - $89,990.61 per year
