Child Nutrition Supervisor

Supervise and evaluate the implementation and compliance of the Child Nutrition Operation at assigned campus locations. Provide technical assistance and support to food service managers and their staff in order to achieve high quality meals and maintain a cost effective operation at each site.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Education/Certification**:
Bachelor’s Degree in food management, nutrition, or related field (preferred)

In lieu of degree, five years food service management experience

ServSafe Certification or equivalent required

Maintain USDA Professional Standards Requirements

**Preferred**:
Five years’ experience in Child Nutrition

Certified with Texas Association of School Nutrition

**Special Knowledge and Skills**:
Working knowledge of institutional food service production techniques/procedures

Working knowledge of operation of large and small institutional kitchen equipment

Expert knowledge of child nutrition program regulations

Ability to work with all levels of personnel

Strong organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

**Major Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Ensure all school cafeterias follow Federal, State, and local policies, practices, and procedures of the NSLP, SBP, & CACFP Programs and Tomball Independent School District.
- Ensure all cafeterias prepare and serve the highest quality food and provide the highest quality service.
- Conduct regular meal assessments, safety and sanitation inspections at assigned campuses
- Supervise campus managers in purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and financial management.
- Train, advise, and monitor the maintenance of a safe and sanitary work environment in the school cafeterias.
- Assist in meal production, service, and clean-up if an emergency arises. Fill in for managers as needed.
- Review monthly food production records ensuring all Federal requirements are met.
- Perform the annual on-site and audit reviews at assigned campuses as required by Federal regulation.
- Review campus inventory using Primero/Cybersoft Inventory Program.
- Assist with keeping all products and prices up to date with current food bid.
- Assist in developing nutritionally sound menus using input from campus managers, students, and parents.
- Assist in defining job descriptions, manager performance reviews, and staffing assignments.
- Support managers in the area of personnel management, work scheduling, employee training, and evaluation.
- Participate in continuing education trainings through Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Association for School Nutrition, and other courses with a minimum of 12 hours per year.
- Develop/implement manager and employee training/instructional classes.
- Assist Catering Coordinator with special functions.
- Assist Concessions Coordinator when necessary.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with food service staff, students, administrators, faculty, and the community.
- Assist in development and implementation of school meal program promotions, such as, Texas School Lunch Week and School Breakfast Week.
- Assist in the development and testing of new recipes and products.
- Demonstrate a willingness and positive attitude toward performing other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate on a daily basis support, loyalty, and a positive attitude toward TISD objectives.

**Working Conditions**:

- Valid driver’s license to operate department provided vehicle.
- Duties will require flexibility of hours:

- 75% Implementation and compliance of the Child Nutrition Operation, quality control of food production, and special functions.
- 15% Manager and employee training
- 10% Clerical duties
- Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
- Work in a fast paced environment and stand for extended periods of time.
- Moderate exposure to extreme temperature changes.
- Physical demands will include: walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, some stooping, bending, and twisting.
