Kindergarten Assistant (Faculty)
**Position Description**:
The Nightingale Bamford School is seeking an assistant to work in the Kindergarten classrooms for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a one year position designed to provide hands-on classroom and teaching experiences. This is a 10 month position that begins on August 21, 2024 and ends June 13, 2025. Assistants are considered members of our faculty and are classified as non-exempt, hourly employees. Assistants will be able to earn extra income (ie, coaching or working in one of our after school programs) and will have a set schedule each cycle. This position reports to the Associate Head of Lower School. The hours for this: Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays: 7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays: 7:45 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as a support teacher during morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, computer science, dance, music, and SING
- Assist in all aspects of student supervision to promote health and safety, including lunch, class transitions, recess and rooftime play periods
- Co-teach Kindergarten math
- As needed, act as a substitute teacher or classroom facilitator depending upon the needs of the Kindergarten classroom
- Chaperone Kindergarten field trips
- Effectively and professionally communicate with students, colleagues, and administrators on student related matters
- Attend Kindergarten grade level meetings, Kindergarten math meetings, Lower School division meetings, and school-wide Tuesday meetings as needed
- Meet with the Associate Head of Lower School every other cycle for mentoring
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Must have experience or demonstrated interest in working with Kindergarten age children
- Be eager to work with a close-knit team and adopt a collaborative spirit
- Must be flexible and willing to change direction in a fast paced environment
**SALARY**
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $45,000.
