The receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors to the school, parents, staff and children. As the ‘face’ of the school the receptionist should be welcoming, personable, helpful and able to represent the school in a professional and friendly manner. In addition, it is essential that the person for this role is organized, able to multi-task, work flexibly and have a ‘can do’ approach to work, as no two days are the same. The receptionist may also be asked to assist the Office Manager with various administrative tasks.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a school office highly preferred
- Experience of working successfully and co-operating as a member of a team
- Experience of undertaking a range of administrative tasks
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly-changing environment
- Intellectual agility, a commitment to maintaining rigorous standards, and a demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute on multiple priorities simultaneously
- Innovative, creative and collaborative thinker
- Has experience in working in under resourced communities and is able to read and adjust to cultural differences
- Completed BCI in compliance with state and local educational practices

**Job Functions and Responsibilities**:

- Controls admission to the entry way of the school via an electric lick on the entry way door.
- Ensure that all visitors register in the log book.
- Screens all visitors for purpose of visit.
- Ensures that all visitors register in the log book.
- Does not admit anyone who is not on the parent’s list of people authorized to pick-up a child.
- Clears all concerns with the Principal, Executive Director, or assigned teacher.
- Screens all incoming mail and refers questions to the Office Manager.
- Is responsible for transmitting written communication to the parents.
- Performs clerical duties as assigned by the Principal via the Office Manager.
- Maintains log of telephone calls.
- Responsible for providing telephone messages to the appropriate personnel and maintaining a duplicate log of all messages.
- Checks all U.S. mail-non bulk packages to the school through the front office.
- Engages appropriate personnel for deliveries through the loading dock.
- Transfers all paperwork related to deliveries to the Office Manager for disposition.
- Maintains a log of all new applicants for the school.
- Responsible for ensuring that new applicants meet with the proper admission’s staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by (supervisor)
