**ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHEOLOGIST- FACILITIES AND DEVELOPMENT / NORTHERN SERVICE CENTER / CULTURAL RESOURCES**

The reporting location for this position is Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the general direction of Senior State Archeologist.
- Under the general direction of the Senior State Archaeologist, the Associate State Archaeologist operates at the full journey level, performing the more difficult and varied work of archaeological investigations and cultural resource management. The incumbent will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for a wide range of departmental actions/projects. The reporting location for the position is the Northern Service Center (NSC) in Sacramento, CA.
- The Associate State Archaeologist is responsible for duties associated with the planning and implementation of departmental projects within the NSC area, which requires identification, inventory, investigation, and protection of archaeological/cultural resources (sites, features, structures, objects). The position will direct and coordinate archaeological projects; prepare and submit budgets; provide research data and management recommendations; and prepare technical reports. The position may require responding to District staff requests related to cultural resource management, Native American consultation, and project review.
- The incumbent will work independently as well as work with others in a cooperative manner, have the capability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changes in priorities, and occasionally, complete tasks and/or projects with short notification. The position consists of both office and field environments, and often requires fieldwork that involves overnight travel for extended periods of time.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position requires a valid California Class C Driver’s license.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered**.**
