**JOB TITLE**: Veterinary Assistant for our Mobile Clinic

**REPORTS TO**: Mobile/RVT Manager, Director of Mobile Clinic Operations
**WORK RELATIONSHIPS**:Clinic Surgeon, Clinic Manager, Director of Mobile Clinic Operations, Director of Clinic Operations, Executive Director, Staff and Volunteers
**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**: This position is full-time or part time and requires travel to the mobile clinics held in different areas of the city each day.
**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**: This position encompasses three key areas of responsibility: assist clinic manager, best practice in patient care, daily flow of wellness and spay neuter, client relations (in person and on the phone). Your role is to provide support to the Clinic manager and provide staff support when the Clinic Manager is not present.
**Job Summary**:
Specializes in assisting veterinarians in all aspects of the Mobile Wellness Waggin’ including vaccines, procedures, laboratory diagnostics, fluid therapy, the administration of prescribed medications, client education and clinic asepsis. Some weekends are necessary and there is occasional flexibility in work hours for mobile events where overtime is required.
This Mobile Veterinary Assistant position is specific to a Veterinary Assistant position that includes many general Veterinary Assistant duties as well as specific duties relating to assisting the Mobile RVT/Manager in maintaining and promoting best practices in patient care and customer service in a high volume, high quality wellness mobile clinic. In this position, it is necessary to be able to multitask, communicate effectively, have a strong understanding of the flow of the day, be cross trained in all positions, uphold best practice policies and patient care, monitor inventory, and provide effective client communication. In this position, you will be expected to lead the team by example, be the frontline in representing CAMP to the public as well as addressing each animal’s specific requirements that enter the facility every day. This job is highly detail oriented as well as repetitive in nature. It is essential to be able to speak knowledgeably to clients about responsible animal ownership as well as surgical procedures, vaccine protocols, additional CAMP protocols and animal education issues. The Veterinary Assistant should have the ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel. At all times, this position requires the Veterinary Assistant to provide quality service to clients and patients, while representing CAMP in a courteous and professional manner. Provide effective, supportive, and constructive leadership to staff while maintaining professionalism and upholding company policies and best practice procedures in patient care.
It is imperative as a CAMP employee that a positive and constructive attitude is always present while on shift with CAMP. Additionally, merit raises are based on taking initiative and generating ideas that will move CAMP toward achieving the organization’s vision, mission and goals.
**Duties**
- Assist the Mobile RVT/Manager and Director of Mobile Clinic Operations.
- Maintaining the treatment and surgical space and equipment in an orderly and appropriate manner.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical concepts, including, but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks. Ability to communicate such information to clients.
- High volume client/patient each morning
- Ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately by both client and CAMP staff
- Ensuring the client understands all services CAMP offers and receives requested services.
- Explaining CAMP protocols concerning pick up and release of animals as well as additional policies i.e. cryptorchids, high risk surgeries, complications, special instructions
- Stepping in where needed to keep the day on track
- Explaining CAMP protocols/policies concerning best practice in patient care
- Communicate post operative care instructions to clients and answer questions including specific instruction given by doctor or RVT
- Sometimes close out computer at end of day including cash deposit
- Communicate with staff, doctor, and receptions during intake and release of animals ensuring appropriate timing
- Ability to lift and carry animals to and from all areas of the facility, including between front reception and surgical area
- Closing Clinic for day if needed
- Other duties as assigned
**Education / Certifications / Licenses**:
- High school diploma/GED
- Language - Able to speak, read, write and understand English. Spanish language is helpful.
- Current Driver's license and ability to drive the mobile van is a huge plus
