Since 1880, the League of American Bicyclists has been people-powered, with a goal to make bicycling safer and easier as a means of transportation and recreation. Today, the League continues to improve lives and strengthen communities through bicycling. We are more than 200,000 members and supporters strong with more than 1,000 state and local advocacy groups and bike clubs as well as thousands of businesses, universities, and communities together leading the movement to create a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone.

The League of American Bicyclists represents the voices of everyday bicyclists in the halls of Congress, to federal agencies and with national partners in Washington D.C. We seek to ensure the most bicycle-friendly federal policies, regulations, and funding priorities to enable state and local governments to get more people riding — and riding safely.

**Who We Are Looking For**
Someone interested in transportation policy and politics, and how it affects bicycling. You will be assisting our lobbyist with research, creating explainer materials on legislation, writing action alerts, and working with state and local advocacy organizations. Issues covered will be transportation policy, active transportation and health, and vehicle safety standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Tracking implementation of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and working with state and local advocates to identify and highlight excellent biking and walking projects to policy makers.
- Analyzing legislation and writing fact sheets, action alerts and blogs on legislation and key bicycling issues.
- Coordinating sessions for the National Bike Summit in March 2025 and webinars throughout the year.
- Prepping materials for and participating in coalition meetings, and working with partner organizations when applicable.

**Qualifications**
- Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn and communicate the mission and goals of the League.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages, abilities, cultural groups, economic status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Ability to staff the three day National Bike Summit in March in person in Washington, DC is strongly encouraged.

**Reporting Relationships**
The Federal Policy Fellow reports to the Deputy Executive Director and may work with the Policy Director as well.

**Hours, duration and pay**:
The position is 20 hours/week for one year.

Pay is $20/hour.
