The Lead Technician I for Grounds supervises and directs:

- all grounds staff.
- the seeding, fertilizing, mowing, and trimming of all playing fields in the district.
- the planting, pruning, and cultivating of trees and shrubs on district grounds.
- the removal of snow, ice, leaves, fallen branches, other weather-generated debris, and trash from designated district grounds.

This position requires responding to ground’s emergencies or other unforeseen situations around-the-clock.

The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or the essential functions of this job at any time.- Reports consistently for work as scheduled- Performs other duties as assigned- Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards- Assists in the hiring process of personnel- Assists technicians with problem solving- Assists with implementation and tracking of preventative maintenance program- Coordinates building maintenance services with other district departments and functions- Coordinates inspections of all district equipment and property as required- Ensures that all safety rules, regulations, and codes are followed to the prescribed measures- Maintains an inventory and recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment- Maintains clean and efficient operating work area- Oversees the workflow of one the grounds department- Plans and performs maintenance repairs to the facilities and systems and reports major discrepancies- Prepares and enters records of work performed and parts used on all district equipment- Provides assistance in resolving technical problems- Reads and interprets service and parts manuals- Responds to all service breakdowns and assigned work orders as required- Schedules work as needed with building managers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information in various software systems- Ability to analyze malfunctions in the more complex and sophisticated electrical equipment and systems- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, staff, students, parents, and the general public- Ability to follow oral and written instructions- Ability to input work orders on a computer and generate reports if needed- Ability to maintain confidentiality- Ability to make repairs on mechanical equipment and electrical systems- Ability to manage simultaneous demands- Ability to operate and care for mechanized equipment- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively- Ability to plan, coordinate, and research a variety of problem solving and fact-finding study projects- Ability to recognize safety issues in the workplace- Ability to train others in procedures and the use of equipment- Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions in all related areas- Ability to use the computer to support essential job functions- Ability to work days, hours, locations, and assignments as directed by the supervisor within the position responsibilities- Ability to work independently on assignments without supervision- Ability to work well with individuals from many diverse backgrounds and professions- Considerable knowledge of computer equipment and related software for diagnostics- Demonstrates discernment, excellence, honesty, integrity, patience, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness- Detail-oriented- Energetic, creative, innovative, flexible- Excellent cooperative, collaborative, and problem-solving skills- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building code standards- Knowledge of repair and operations of machinery and equipment- Knowledge of turf management practices- Knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds- Organizational, interpersonal, written, listening, and verbal communication skills- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people including trainees, coworkers, administrators, vendors, and the general public- Understanding of grounds equipment and its use
