**General Summary**:
The Purchasing Coordinator (PC) is responsible for maintaining appropriate product mix and adequate par levels in assigned areas. The PC will place orders with vendors for needed supplies. This position must be knowledgeable of inventory control practices.

**Requirements**:

- High school Graduate
- Minimum 5 years hospital inventory experience preferred. Product knowledge is required.
- Must be proficient in the operations of computers - Windows operating system
- Must have experience with computerized inventory systems
- Must be proactive in all areas of job
- Planning abilities are essential
- Must make effective decisions when problems arise
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must handle multiple tasks simultaneously

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:

- Place orders for needed supplies on a daily basis
- Setup and organize supply systems. Establish par levels and product mix based on historical data and input from departmental staff. Review par levels semi-annually.
- Notify staff in area of responsibility of product relocations, additions, changes or deletions.
- Rotate stock and remove outdated product.
- Responsible for resolving invoice discrepancies in the PMM system.
- Meets with vendor representatives to return outdates and overstocks, resolve problems, etc.
- Fill in for Purchasing Buyers for order placement.
- Coordinate product recalls
- Plans, organizes and runs the bi-annual physical inventories
- Other duties as assigned with regular and predictable attendance.
