**The Urban Scholars Program at City College** administers pre-college and career readiness pipeline programs that annually service more than 500 students throughout the Greater Harlem Community. Our programs are designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students to be future-focused and college-ready. Our commitment is to support students by providing opportunities to achieve success and grow effectively into productive individuals. The Program currently houses two TRIO programs - Talent Search and Upward Bound, and a NYS Liberty Partnership Program.

**Summer Program and Position Description**:The Upward Bound summer program provides each participant with the necessary social and academic advancement tools. We identify the specific needs of our participants and provide them with quality career, academic, financial counseling, and enrichment activities. Graduates of our program are prepared for the transition into post-secondary education and entry-level careers.

**Job Type**: Part Time-Temporary, 7 hours per week

**Compensation**:$50 per hour

**Job Duration**: July 1, 2024 - August 2, 2024 ( No Fridays)

**Job Location**: 2 locations:

- July 1-July 19 -The City College of New York -160 Convent Ave New York, Ny 10031
- July 22 - August 2- Drew University
- 36 Madison Ave Madison, New Jersey 07940

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Develop course content, syllabus, lesson plans, and assigned work
- Lead and attend all in-person class sessions
- Establish and maintain a dynamic in-class environment tailored for our high school population
- Evaluate student work and write a holistic evaluation of each participant after the course ends
- B.A. in Secondary Education or another related field
- A minimum of 1 - 2 yrs. experience working with high school students and/or a background working with students on the college admissions process.
- Strong organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 8 per week
