Fiber Splicing/testing Supervisor

The Fiber Splicing/Testing Supervisor position requires a minimum of 4 years of fiber splicing and testing experience. This position must be willing to perform both aerial and underground fiber optic splicing and testing construction activities and have an extensive working knowledge of aerial and underground rules and regulations. Must be highly proficient in fiber color codes, in using specialty fiber tools, and fiber optic test equipment. Must also be able to use a computer and be proficient in MS Office suite, Adobe Acrobat DC, and any other necessary programs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Managing the fiber splicing & testing process for multiple projects to produce quality sites to customer specifications and within the timeframe and budget required.
- Plan, schedule, prioritize, scope and organize material, equipment, manpower, and subcontractors in a manner ensuring that projects progress in an efficient and productive manner.
- Provide guidance and direction to all field splicing personnel.
- Effectively develop and manage construction vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring that any issues are resolved on a timely basis.
- Inspect job sites to ensure fiber splicing & testing is performed in accordance with plans and specifications, and that customer and company quality standards are met. Immediately implement corrective action for any deficiencies identified.
- Interface with market representatives to resolve issues and ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Ability to interpret and communicate project plans and standards to support staff, labor crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
- Forecast and track daily production of both in-house employees and subcontractors in multiple job locations.
- Test and troubleshoot for damaged fiber and make repairs as needed.
- Read, understand, and update splice documentation and maps as required.
- Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to, pulling new cable/fiber through short conduits, opening underground vaults or pedestals.
- Perform aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial fiber, installing fiber storage in a safe manner.
- Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures, including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities of this job classification.

**Qualifications**:

- 4+ years of experience in Splicing and Testing
- 2+ years of managing field and/or office staff
- Prior experience of aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- Cable placement and splicing methods and practices experience
- Effective communication skills
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test
- Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed

**Physical Requirements**
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
- Must be able to perform physical activities that requires at times, sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting, standing, and handling materials up to 75lbs
