**Position Summary**

The Buyer/Planner supports the manufacturing team to ensure daily production requirements are achieved to meet customer expectations. This position has a significant impact on plant KPI’s including impacts Ontime / In-full (OTIF.)

**Responsibilities**
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
- Completes status reports for production raw material inventory; including cycle counts of raw materials.
- Verifies inventory and schedules deliveries.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
- Conducts cycle counts on raw materials and adjusts inventory appropriately.
- Evaluates MRP to procure the appropriate raw materials.
- Establishes purchase orders for raw materials, supplies and MRO items as required.
- Forwards orders to suppliers and monitors and expedites orders.
- Verifies receipt of items.
- Resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
- Authorizes payment for purchases.
- Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data and trends.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- As orders received, responsible for providing expected completion dates with goal of meeting customer requested dates.
- Analyzes and prepare documents needed for production.
- Monitors material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage.
- Creates production schedule and prioritizes job-orders for production optimization.
- Maintains the production schedule and other reports as required.
- Conducts follow up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectations.
- Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory
- Interacts with shop floor management daily to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or additional information as requested from Manufacturing, Customer Service and Accounting.
- Responsible for keeping the work area clean and organized.
- Ensures work orders released in production scheduling system (ShotScope) in a manner that provides ample visibility for all planning and purchasing requirements.
- Print Planner is responsible for pulling and verifying plate locations to ensure efficient changeovers.
- Ensures special notes on Work Orders as applicable to minimize any misses to customer needs.
- Assists with reviewing accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM’s)
- May be asked to perform other duties at a lower level or higher level of proficiency.

**Education and Experience**
- Required_
- Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in scheduling, procurement, and customer or production supervision.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Preferred_
- Bachelor’s degree

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Relationship Management Skills
- Ability to make sound and swift decisions with limited information
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Skill using ERP systems
