**Community Engagement Coordinator Job Description**
Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village (SBEV) is a dynamic and community-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness in our local community. Our mission is to cultivate leadership capacity through free year-round programming for youth ages 5-17 in the Flint, MI and Chicago area. Our diverse programs in Academics, Athletics, Arts and Wellness are lead by local professionals who are passionate about giving back to the community. By investing in youth, we aim to positively transform the landscape of justice and equity in our city. Our doors are open to everyone, and we offer a variety of programs that youth can choose from.
**Job Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Outreach Initiatives**:
- Initiate and coordinate outreach initiatives for community programs.
- Engage with community members to understand their needs and feedback.
- Support creative development in areas such as afterschool programs, summer camps, academic support, nutrition, sports, music, mental health, and arts programs.
- **Event Planning**:
- Plan and lead special community engagement events.
- Coordinate health and wellness initiatives in partnership with community health partners, including Insight Hospital.
- **Administrative Tasks**:
- Perform administrative tasks related to community outreach and program coordination.
- Track outreach efforts and measure program impact.
- **Collaboration**:
- Work in collaboration with the team of community health navigators.
- Develop sustainable solutions for the programs beyond the grant period.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in community programming and engagement.
- Experience in the field of education and existing community connections.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative.
- Strong team player with collaborative skills.
**Additional Duties**
- Foster relationships with local organizations and community members.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase community involvement and participation.
- Prepare reports on program success and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant legal and ethical standards.
