Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

Reports To: Deputy Chief of Engagement
Pay: $30+ hourly
Employee Type: 1099 Contractor (Temporary for six months)

  • This is a grant funded position, which is temporary in duration. Employment status is a 1099.

Start Date: June 2024 - October 2024

Overview

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work within Art in Motion - and the community - to creatively and confidently build relationships, drive strategy, and support the student recruitment initiative at Art in Motion. They will:

Responsibilities:

  • Team – Collaborate with the DS Deputy Chief of Engagement, Student Recruitment & Enrollment Manager, engagement team members, and recruitment leads at Art In Motion.

  • Specific Focus – Creation and support of all student recruitment initiatives at Art In Motion

  • AIM Targeted Community Outreach – Align on daily and weekly goals in collaboration with DS Engagement Special Projects and AIM Director of Creative Development & Partnerships.

  • AIM Extended Outreach – Identify additional community partnership opportunities in service of generating awareness and elevating new family interest.

  • Special Focuses – Facilitate outreach at direction of ESP plus identify new partnership opportunities with area churches, women’s groups, chambers of commerce, and other parent/family gathering spaces.

  • AIM Festival and Event Presence – Regular weekly spring and summer event presence, tabling, and dynamically sharing the AIM story.

  • Materials Deliveries and Grassroots Publicity – Daily drop-off of recruitment materials at area businesses and other external partners – and connecting with small businesses owners and family liaisons.

  • Creativity – Creatively identify opportunities to meet prospective families – and confidently share the story of Art In Motion.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Work to engage staff and families in the work of new student recruitment through creative engagement opportunities and the building of successful student recruitment campaigns.

  • Community Outreach – Conduct outreach and build relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, , and other community contacts. Dedicated work to build relationships with youth and family centric community partners with the goal of connecting with families and driving interest in Art In Motion. This team member will have quantifiable goals around tangible community touchpoints.

  • Regular Community Presence – Distribute recruitment materials at area businesses and other external partners. Identify opportunities to meet prospective families – and confidently share the story of Art In Motion in new, creative and dynamic ways.

  • Interest and Application Tracking – This team member will have quantifiable goals around application collection in service of growing AIM school enrollment.

  • Community Presentations – Facilitate regular community presentations to inform and inspire prospective families and community members. This team member will have quantifiable goals around the number of community presentations facilitated for youth, families, partners, etc.

  • Events and Festivals – Provide active setup, presence, and support for off-site recruitment events. Also, proactively identify robust community event opportunities for AIM presence.

  • On-site Events – Active support for on-site open houses and other family engagement events in service of elevating student recruitment.

  • Tracking – Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of prospective students, applications, and recruitment efforts to ensure effective tracking and reporting

  • Goal-setting – Weekly goal setting to ensure strategic focuses for the week + understanding of community targets and expected results.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma

Qualifications:

  • Fully supports the Distinctive Schools Mission and Vision

  • Ability to build relationships with the community

  • Previous work in recruitment, marketing or sales preferred

  • Technology demands:

    • Proficient with cloud based software solutions (such as GoogleSuite)

    • Ability to learn digital tools and and programs as needed for the position

  • Travel: Ability to move between schools and facilitate visits to school neighborhood organizations and community partners - in car and on foot.

Physical demands

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing.
