OVERVIEW

We are looking for youth service workers interested in impacting the lives of youth. The Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF) is a nonprofit organization conducting school-based, youth development services. TKF is hiring part-time Peace Educator Mentors to create a restorative campus presence that promotes peace, safety, and cooperation. Mentors are assigned to a specific elementary, middle or high school with either San Diego Unified School District or Vista Unified School District. Mentors, working independently, are imbedded within their campus to address student behaviors, misconduct incidents, and to support at-risk students. Conducted interventions aim to enhance social-emotional skills, mediate to improve peer relationships, and promote school engagement. Mentors become an active school resource, working closely with the counselors, social workers, teachers, administrators, and other staff daily. Each mentor will assist a caseload of 15 to 20 high need students identified by the school as requiring additional attention.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or equivalent and minimum of two years of college or higher
- One year of experience working with children as an employee or volunteer
- 18 years of age or older
- Prefer minimum one year experience working with children in a school-based setting
- Have tuberculosis test clearance

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with youth ages six and above
- Prefer experience working on school campus or in an educational environment
- Can mediate and negotiate stressful youth situations
- Can network and support school staff
- Capable of planning and organizing student event and activities
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting with mínimal supervision
- Ability to communicate at a professional level with TKF, school staff, and community organizations
- Basic computer skills including data entry and reporting
- Culturally sensitive
- Bilingual a plus

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
