**Position Description**:
**About the Department Services**:
The Human Resources (HR) division provides overall policy direction on human resources management and administrative support to all staff. It oversees various actions to develop the human capital and talent of Harris County Juvenile Probation (HCJPD). This division is responsible for recruitment, hiring, benefits, compensation, organizational development, employee relations and training. HR plays a strategic role in business management and the fostering of a positive workplace culture, which contributes significantly to HCJPD’s overall success.

**About the Position**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assists with the interviewing process, attending and conducting interviews with the screening committee and acting as the chair person.
- Attends and participates in recruitment efforts; job fairs, visiting college campuses, recruiting sessions.
- Communicates with administration regarding finalizing employment date for new staff and training requirements.
- Provides professional development to staff in the area of interviewing, resumes and developing staff to climb the career ladder.

**Education and Experience**:

- BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration or a related field of study **and**:

- Two (2) years of Human Resources related work experience.

**OR**
- MA/MS degree in Personnel Administration/Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field of study **plus**
- One (1) year of Human Resources related work experience.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Working knowledge of divisional and departmental policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of TJJD standards regarding the hiring and retention of staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Ability to interpret and understand employment law standards (E.E.O.C., A.D.A., F.M.L.A., F.L.S.A., etc.).

**Licensure**:
- Valid Texas Driver's license. (Employee must maintain liability insurance in at least the minimum amounts required by law.)**Additional Requirements**:

- Upon receiving a conditional job offer, every applicant undergoes a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Employees who hold this position are required to possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's license. Employee must maintain liability insurance in at least the minimum amounts required by law.
- Certified copies of transcripts of educational credentials and/or college credits will be required during hiring process.
- All applicants are required to present evidence of a tuberculosis (TB) skin test. In the event of a positive test, the applicant will be required to provide additional documentation.
- If public emergency is declared by county, staff could be assigned to other duties and/or facilities and/or under the supervision of another county department.
- Must be at least 21 years old.

**Preferences**:

- Experience working as a HR Generalist or HR Business Partner.
- Experience in managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process.
- HR Certifications a plus (SHRM, PHR, etc...)
