**Primary Purpose**: To provide database management, security, and support for the technology department.- RESPONSIBILITIES:
**Major Responsibilities and Duties**
- Provide data from internally maintained databases in appropriate formats as needed by District personnel.
- Maintain current training and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Provide general database management and database schema creation.
- Provide data modeling and database design.
- Perform capacity planning, SQL code reviews, and performance management and tuning.
- Facilitate data movement via SSIS and similar tools.
- Serve as an advanced technical resource to District personnel.
- Document software and systems procedures and facilitate knowledge transfer to other department team members.
- Maintain professional knowledge of available technologies, software, and hardware that may be useful solving user needs and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Ensure databases are effectively backed up and restored as needed.
- Assist in the training of users.
- Understand and provide input on Technology Department direction, goals, and objectives.
- Keep informed of and comply with all State and district regulations and policies regarding data collection, data retention, and reporting of computer-stored data.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and investigate solutions.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
- EXPERIENCE:
**Minimum Experience**:

- Minimum of two years of experience in progressively complex software system development with some analysis and design experience
- QUALIFICATIONS:
**Minimum Education/Certification**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a computer-related field preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Eligible for coverage under the District’s motor vehicle insurance program

**Special Knowledge/Skills**:

- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
- Proficient with database management, relational data structures, and complex SQL queries, data modeling and database design, database schema creation and management, SQL code reviews, and performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Proficient in database backup strategies and recovery testing
- Familiar with Windows Server technologies
- Working knowledge of wide area data communications and local area networks
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate district-wide teams and projects
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to observe professional and ethical work standards and handle confidential and security-sensitive information
