**Director, Major and Planned Gifts**

The AOF is the largest 501c3 charitable Osteopathic foundation in the United States that supports and invests in the whole profession by recognizing Osteopathic students, residents, fellows, physicians, and faculty across the United States and abroad.

Since its inception, the AOF has supported programs and initiatives that align with the mission of advancing Osteopathic tenets and principles, which emphasize treating the patient as whole at the center of the health care journey. Over the last 75 years, the AOF has awarded thousands of grants, scholarships, and awards to members of the Osteopathic community.

The Director, Major and Planned Gifts will report directly to the CEO, working collaboratively with the Campaign Director.

**Required Skills and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- Experience identifying, cultivating, and solicitating high five-, six
- and seven-figure gifts.
- Experience supporting a CEO, Board, Campaign Cabinet, and related volunteer committee in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major and planned gifts.
- Experience working closely with high-net-worth donors, and prominent business leaders; experience working with medical professionals and high-profile physicians a plus.
- Experience in developing and executing moves management strategies that led to major or planned gifts.
- Experience working with modern data management systems such as Raisers Edge, iWave or ResearchPoint.
- Experience in building relationships and advancing philanthropic conversations.
- Experience writing persuasive and compelling letters and proposals; as well as collateral fundraising material.
- Experience working with Annual Giving (and Special Events) team to build a pipeline of individuals and organizations with potential to make major gifts.
- Experience executing fundraising plans, with metrics and timelines, which take into consideration an organization’s highest priorities.

**Preferred, but not required**:

- Familiarity with healthcare and large complex ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Osteopathic Medicine (okay to research on your own).
- Presentation skills for key industry and advocacy events.
- Capacity to extract and analyze data to make effective, efficient decisions about donor strategy and process.
- Exposure to and experience with soliciting planned gifts.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE**

Education**: Bachelor’s Degree is required.

**Experience**:

- A proven record of success in major gifts fundraising is essential.
- Seven to ten years of direct experience.

**Licensure/Certification**: CFRE, or related certification is desirable but not required.
