We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual with in-depth knowledge of molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and immunology for this Research Specialist role. In this position, you will be working closely with our Research Scientists and carrying out animal tissue preparation and histological analysis for pathological diagnosis. This role requires proficiency in various histological techniques and the ability to operate laboratory equipment effectively. Other duties include assisting Research Scientists with animal model studies, biomarker analysis, and culturing, expanding, and differentiating of monolayer and 3D cell models. **Responsibilities**:

- Perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining according to established protocols.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains as needed for histological procedures.
- Operate and maintain histology equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and staining and imaging devices.
- Perform quality control checks on slides and stains to ensure accuracy and reproducibility.
- Assist Research Scientists with routine and special staining techniques and immunohistochemistry assays.
- Evaluates complex and difficult samples to determine suitable methods of preparation and staining. Perform antibody titration to optimize the staining protocol if needed.
- Actively participate in microscopic examinations of tissue pathology and data analyses using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Report accurate and timely test results and prepare reports, summaries, patents, and manuscripts.
- Use good documentation practices in electronic notebooks to establish and maintain records of the work being performed.
- Work in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues across multiple departments.
- Help to maintain laboratory equipment and material inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Additional activities as needed.

**Requirements**:

- B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a histology laboratory.
- Proficiency in histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry and special staining methods is required.
- Experience with histological examination of animal tissue specimens using light and fluorescence microscope is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in animal model (mouse, rat, rabbit) studies and isolation of animal tissues is a plus.
- Tissue culture skills (working on aseptic conditions), including maintenance, expansion, and differentiation of human cells, are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately.
- Strong computational skills, experienced with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism, and ImageJ.
- Excellent organizational skills, record-keeping, and lab notebook tracking.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and function in a team-oriented environment.
- Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization which requires flexibility, and a willingness to learn new techniques and methods.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certification as a histotechnician (HT) or histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP or equivalent certification.
