**Job Summary**
- The Accommodations Specialist primary duties are: to assist the Director of Disability Services in providing reasonable accommodations for eligible students with a disability; evaluate and interpret student IEPs, 504 plans, and psychological documents to ensure reasonable accommodations; to assist in collaboration with college faculty and staff in the provision of accommodations; to assist with projects and trainings that provide campus, and potentially community wide, awareness of the needs of college students with disabilities; read and proctor tests for accommodated students; to assist with general office operations, specifically text conversion and assistive technology processes.**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Knowledge of laws related to provision of services for college students with disabilities such as the ADA and section 504.
- Knowledge of educational accommodations with a preference for experience with adaptive equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of adaptive equipment, computer software etc. (either verbally or physically).
- Knowledge of FERPA and confidentiality issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work with a wide variety of people and abilities, including conflict resolution skills.
- Public speaking skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as word, excel, power point etc.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
- Proven experience with current assistive technology and software.
- Excellent communication skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- One year of related experiences in higher education preferred.
- Personal experience working with diverse populations, including diverse types of disabilities. with a disability desirable.
- Sign language proficiency and interpreting experience are desirable.

**Physical Demands**
- Work is normally performed in a general office environment.
- Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities and needs.
- This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals on a case-by-case basis.
