**Your Role in Action**:

- Creating a physically and emotionally safe environment by conducting regular rounds and patient and property searches, allowing patients to focus on managing their illnesses and disabilities for healing.
- Assisting with basic patient care, observing progress, and identifying the need for additional services or treatment changes.
- Providing immediate behavioral emergency assistance, including patient restraint and recognizing/reporting homicidal or suicidal behaviors.
- Monitoring and documenting behavior of patients in seclusion or on precautions.
- Performing delegated duties such as vital signs and specimen collection.
- Utilizing Standard Precautions to prevent the spread of infection.

**What qualifications you will need**:

- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Understanding of Standard Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.
- Ability to coordinate patient care with treatment team.
- 1 year of direct care experience in psychiatric or behavioral healthcare environment preferred

In this role, you will work in 6, 12-hour shifts per pay period, from 6:45pm to 7:15am, with rotating weekends and holidays. Working these shifts offers a unique opportunity to provide crucial care during evening and overnight hours when patients may require additional support. By being present during these times, you play a vital role in ensuring continuity of care and maintaining a safe environment for our patients. Additionally, this schedule allows for potential flexibility in managing personal commitments and offers the possibility of extended time off during weekdays. The HARRIS CENTER is the state-designated Local Mental Health Authority and Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Authority serving Harris County, Texas. As the largest behavioral and developmental disability care center in Texas, The HARRIS CENTER provided care to over 80,000 people in fiscal year 2022 and has an annual budget of over $275 million.
