**Summary**:
Schedule - **Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a full six-week session. Locations are in Bensalem and Levittown.**

The YWCA Unit Coordinator assists the Camp Director with the implementation of a camp program, by providing leadership in the planning and development of age appropriate activities for campers in grades 1-3 and grades 4-6, with the goal to provide a safe, fun and engaging camp for all program participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as may be assigned.
1. Assist in the direction, supervision and organization of campers, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
- Responsible for the development of all daily age-appropriate camp activities for campers in grades 1-3 and/or grades 4-6, that meet Day Camp Program goals - communication skills, team work, leadership, role-modeling, progressive programming.
- Assure campers are properly supervised at all times.
- Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.

2. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
- Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities.
- Actively participate in all program areas as assigned.
- Provide for the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
- Assist in program areas such as swimming, athletics, learning activities, and arts and crafts as directed.

3. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
- Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs.
- Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems, and discuss with camp director when appropriate.
- Be prepared to act in the case of an emergency, participate in all emergency drills as if they were actual emergencies.
- Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp director.
- Be alert to strangers at camp, approach any unfamiliar person on camp and politely introduce yourself, asking them who they are and help them find the camp director.

4. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
- Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
- Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship.
- Create an inclusive atmosphere where campers, staff and parents feel welcomed and a part of the group.

**Other Job Duties**:

- Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise all-camp activities and camp functions.
- Notify camp director of any needed referrals for crisis intervention situations observed in campers, which includes serving as a mandated reporter for incidents of suspected abuse
- Attend trainings as required to develop or maintain proficiency in job duties

- Certified Teacher or Bachelor’s degree in Education, or Human Services degree preferred with at least one year experience working with children
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership position
- Ability to effectively supervise and communicate with staff and campers
- Attend mandatory camp training
- Experience working with children ages 6-11 in a camp or educational setting
- Must be patient and encouraging
- Schedule - **Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a full six-week session. Locations are in Bensalem and Levittown.**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

**Work Environment**
This position will occasionally require the employee to work outdoors, and sometimes in hot weather. The work environment usually has moderate noise, and occasionally has loud noise.
