Chapin’s next Upper School English Teacher and Advisor will be:

- Understands and appreciates the need to create thoughtfully scaffolded lessons, activities, and assessments that foster a growth mindset among the students
- Demonstrates effective pedagogy, particularly in response to the needs of students with a variety of backgrounds, learning needs, and interests
- Integrates the teaching of reading comprehension, critical thinking and analytical writing
- Fosters the development of creative writing

**Qualifications**:
Required
- Degree. B.A. in English, literature, and/or comparative literature
- Experience: three years teaching experience in English, literature, and/or comparative literature
- Experience teaching adolescents

Preferred- Masters Degree in an academic discipline or a discipline related to teaching, learning, writing, and/or educational psychology- Strong interest (or experience) in some form of creative writing or journalism

Compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience. The salary range is $69,000-$130,000 annually.
