The Scientist I, Bioinformatics works closely with several groups within Sarepta’s Research and Development department. The Scientist I, Bioinformatics is part of the Genomics and Data Sciences team and plays a critical role in supporting Discovery Biology to advance our portfolio of RNA, gene therapy, and CRISPR-based gene editing therapies to treat neuromuscular and CNS-related disease. As such, this person is expected to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

- Develop and optimize bioinformatic analysis pipelines ensuring high maintainability and performance.
- Establish automatized solutions to store analysis results and associated pipeline metadata to facilitate extraction/reporting/visualization of information.
- Develop software validation procedures and test plans, as necessary.
- Deploy pipelines using scalable cloud solutions to accommodate increasing data footprint.
- Proactively identify opportunities/technologies for process improvement and implement enhancements to maximize efficiency in the data processing.

Desired Education and Skills:

- MS degree in Biomedical engineering, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics, with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Industry experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to converse successfully with interdisciplinary collaborators from diverse backgrounds, and experience with multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Expertise in Python is required, as well as experience with shell and R scripting.
- Previous work experience with NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data sets. Having exposure to the essentials of genomics, genetics, and molecular biology is desirable.
- A record of accomplishment developing software solutions in a scientific or research context.
- Experience integrating pipelines with databases/data lake solutions is desirable.
- Experience with workflow management languages such as Nextflow, Snakemake (or similar) frameworks and pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) to support scalable and reproducible research pipelines.
- Understanding best practices across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) with experience with a git SaaS like GitHub/GitLab.
- Understanding of cloud computing best-practices to deploy large-scale informatics production solutions in the cloud (e.g., AWS). Examples include automation, CI/CD, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), monitoring, and incident management.

- Location is flexible within the US.

LI-Remote

This position is remote. However, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta's facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.

The targeted salary range for this position is $96,000 - $120,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
