What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

We're looking for a creative, collaborative, and highly motivated bioinformatics scientist to join our biology R&D team to work on exciting, advanced biology research projects for the U.S. Government. The candidate will work with a team of about 12 people, and will contribute to multi-year, interdisciplinary programs that bring together teams in biology, engineering, and data science to develop and transition new biotechnology solutions in support of national security. Occasional overnight travel required.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science or a related field plus 8 years of progressive technical experience
  • U.S. Citizenship. Ability to access US-only data systems
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer - Familiar with all, Expert in some

  • Bioinformatics software development and analysis experience with a knowledge of common bioinformatics tools and workflows (genomics required; transcriptomics/proteomics/metabolomics/multiomics are desirable)
  • Experience with data science: data analysis, automation, visualization techniques
  • Strong software development skills (experience in Python, agile workflows preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to generate data analysis reports and presentations
  • Candidates should expect that they may be required to travel to a BBN, RTX, teammate, or customer site for meetings or other business-related activities.
  • A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science or a related field
  • Experience in scientific publications and proposal writing
  • Biostatistics experience, experience using biostatistics tools in MATLAB or R
  • Active U.S clearance

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
