Administrative Assistant 1:

- Substitution: Certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Administrative Professional) or associate’s degree in office administration, secretarial science, administrative assistance, paralegal, business technology, or office technology substitutes for two years of experience.

Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

Reassignment Qualifications:
Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a/an Administrative Assistant 1/Trainee 1/2 (formerly Secretary 1); if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Administrative Assistant 1 (Secretary 1) eligible list for this location, if one exists.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 6 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

**Duties Description**

Standard Duties: The duties of the Administrative Assistant 1 in the Administrative Adjudication include but are not limited to the following:

- Responsible for providing administrative support in an office.
- Establish and implement procedures to maintain an efficient work flow.
- Schedule videoconference hearings and conferences that involve multiple parties and locations.
- Relieve an official of a variety of routine office details and perform responsible clerical work.
- Screen and refer telephone calls to the appropriate staff.
- Examine daily mail and personally handle routine correspondence by preparing replies or collecting information for your supervisor’s use in replying.
- Responsible for the preparation of a variety of legal documents, databases, and correspondence.
