Maintains a clean and healthy environment in the Administrative Building and/or Various Houses on the compound as well as supports and participates in common teamwork. Helps to facilitate transportation for Sisters on the campus, as well as household tasks such as laundry. Is a member of the MMS UNA Car Committee.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- **Shalom**
- Works to provide a safe living environment for our Sisters; duties can include:

- Household laundry
- Restocking of paper products
- Assisting in room/basement/ common area cleanouts
- Moving of furniture
- **Administration Building**

Is a member of the car committee, duties include:

- Working with the Unit Administrator and Manager to provide transportation for Sisters needing rides to appointments, shopping etc. in an MMS vehicle provided for this purpose
- Assists the other members of the car committee taking vehicles in for scheduled and emergency maintenance

Works directly with the Building Services Assistant, duties include:

- Assists in providing planned, preventive and emergency housekeeping services
- Maintains interior cleanliness of the buildings/houses by following scheduled work orders (written and verbal) under the direction of the Unit Administrator (or Building Services Assistant)
- Strips beds, wash linens and remake beds in apartment and various houses on the compound when necessary as well as any other laundry tasks, as needed
- Collects and disposes, in proper containers both general and recyclable trash as scheduled
- Attends odd jobs that need quick attention on daily schedules
- Moves and lifts light furniture as needed
- Uses safety precautions in all housekeeping services
- Is trained and available to cover the switchboard in the event of absences/vacations
- Delivers mail to appropriate departments in the event of absences/vacations
- Attends In-Service Training Sessions
- Performs other duties as assigned

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**

Knowledge of:
A wide range of cleaning tasks

Basic reading, writing and math skills in order to read and understand labels and instructions for mixing chemicals and cleaning solutions Ability to:
Follow a schedule so that daily, weekly, monthly duties are reasonably covered Use standard appliances and equipment
- Remember multiple verbal and written instructions given at beginning of a period

extending over long periods of time

Understand safe and appropriate use of standard cleaning chemicals

Stand and walk without restrictions for long periods of time

Communicate courteously and effectively in person and on the telephone
- Demonstrate good judgment and common sense

Respect confidentiality

Meet deadlines while dealing with frequent interruptions

Tolerate, with good temperament, last minute changes in schedule and duties

Be flexible in work performance assignments

Learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency

Some experience in janitorial or general housekeeping preferred

**EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING**

High School Diploma or GED required

Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT**

Exposure to cleaning chemicals requiring the use of protective devices

Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach

May need to lift, push, pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Stand for extended periods of time

Requires a great deal of walking both indoors and outdoors

Alertness and careful attention to maintaining safe environment for self and others
