Quick Sand & Fill Corporation is an established, growing site development/excavation company working in the entire Miami-Dade County area. The company is in need of an additional heavy equipment operator to join our team.

**General Description**

The equipment operator must be able to operate several types of construction equipment including, but not limited to backhoes, dozers and front end loaders. Demands require worker with experience in the heavy, civil construction industry and ability to work under limited direction and supervision of the foreman and/or superintendent.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate backhoes, bulldozers, loaders and/or other heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials.
- Inspects equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation and for general maintenance needs.
- Perform a variety of earthwork construction activities such as grade for building pads, footing/foundation excavation, de-muck excavation, pond excavation, roadbed embankment, swales, ditches, and incidental constructions (curb pads, sidewalk pads, barrier walls pads, etc).
- Implements proper practices and techniques applied to the safe operation of heavy equipment.
- Accurately completes all reports.
- Adheres to all regulations related to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
- Reports all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to supervisor immediately; submits written reports on accidents, incidents or unusual occurrences as required.
- Follow rules and regulation of the company
- Arrives and signs in on time; works hours as scheduled; wears proper PPE as required.
- **Required Qualifications**:

- **MUST** have a valid Florida Driver’s License and a good driving record.
- **MUST** have at least three (3) years or more of industry related experience for this position, with an emphasis on residential/commercial sitework and road building construction. This position is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

- **PREFERRED** to have a valid CDL A Driver’s License.
- **PREFERRED** a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). A comparable amount of directly related experience may be substituted for the mínimal educational requirements.
- **PREFERRED** a 10-hour OSHA Card
- Ability to read grades, plans and pull stringline.
- Familiar with FDOT road specifications and standards.
- Familiar with Miami Dade county public work specifications and standards.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to keep records and make oral or written reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing and vision skills.
- Ability to make simple arithmetic computations.
- **MUST** submit to drug/alcohol testing and a criminal background check.
- **MUST** be able to maintain a FDOT medical card.
- **MUST** have reliable transportation.
- **MUST** be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- **MUST** be able to work in all types of weather.
- **MUST** be able to sit, stand and walk for extended period of time.
- **MUST** be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
