**Job Summary**

The Curator of Academic Programs and Community Learning leads learning using the museum’s collections and temporary exhibitions. The curator serves CSULB students and off-campus lifelong learners. The curator develops college-level programming around the museum's web-based collection database; trains docents and staff on exhibitions and collections materials; collaborates with faculty to develop curriculum-based, for-credit learning experiences; oversees several open-audience programs, plans collaborations that advance the Museum's educational role; and oversees a curriculum program for school use.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Envision, plan, implement, and evaluate learning programs for CSULB students and diverse community groups.
- Supervise part-time staff, work study staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Grant writing and budget planning.
- Liaise with campus and community groups including faculty, representatives from school districts, community groups, and visitors.
- Coordinate the development and presentation of research by guest scholars, students, and museum staff.

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities**

Strong knowledge of the State of California curriculum standards and guidelines in terms of art education which will influence programming planning and implementation. Demonstrated experience in implementing and evaluating museum education programs to ensure high rate of success at Museum. Experience in presenting arts programming in context of museum education. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written in order to train volunteers and present exhibition ideas to the general public.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

**Education and Experience**

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required.

Preferred:

- A bachelor's degree in arts, art history, art education.
- MFA in studio art, or Master of Ph.D in art history, or art education desirable.
- Demonstrable track record integrating DEI&A theory and practices into professional work
- Must have a minimum of intermediate spoken, reading, and written language fluency in Spanish, Khmer, Tagalog, or Native American language of Southern California including, but not limited to, Tongva.
- History of increasing responsibility for teaching art and art appreciation to a range of age groups including K-12, university students and adults.

**Physical Summary**
- Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

**Licenses / Certificates**
- Driver license required.
