REACH serves as the community quarterback for comprehensive community revitalization in the Riverside neighborhood, located in northeast Wilmington, DE. REACH supports and leverages efforts and resources which promote upward economic mobility for Riverside residents. Employing the Purpose-Built Communities’ model, the revitalization focuses on three pillars: 1) redevelopment including high-quality, mixed-income housing, 2) a cradle to college and career readiness pipeline, and 3) community health, wellness, and safety initiatives. REACH, in collaboration with service partners Kingswood Community Center and The Warehouse (an innovative teen center with more than 150 partner organizations) work together to transform Riverside into a robust, healthy, and vibrant community. The **W**arehouse, **R**EACH Riverside and **K**ingswood Community Center are collectively known as the "**WRK Group**".

**Position Summary**

The Safety Ambassador is responsible for the general safety and security of the Reach Riverside Community. As Safety Ambassador, you will help provide a safe environment for the students, staff, and visitors. Your job duties range from patrolling the teen center and facility while intervening and preventing conflict. The Safety Ambassador will review internal safety trends and research external safety information, tools and resources in order to instill sound safety habits throughout the organization.

**Essential Functions**:
These essential functions are performed on a frequent and recurring basis by an incumbent and include but are not limited to:
**Safety Promotion and Education**:

- Monitor hallways and lobby, circulating through assigned areas to deter unsafe activity
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Identify safety risks and work with safety team managers to develop an action plan.
- Identify any immediate or potential risks to health, safety, and cleanliness.

**Safety Inspections and Reporting**:

- Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work areas.
- Identify and report potential hazards and safety concerns.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to address and rectify safety issues promptly.
- Participate in emergency drills, exercises and training.

**Communication and Collaboration**:

- Greet and actively acknowledge guests and service providers, provide directions, information, and/or recommendations.
- Foster open communication about safety concerns and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote safety initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between management, employees, and external safety agencies.
- Complete any reports and forms as required by safety team management
- Maintain knowledge of building layout and surrounding area.

**Other Duties**
- Participate in regularly scheduled training organized by safety team management.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms and organizational property in good working order.

**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work**

General work and days are Monday through Friday, and availability for Saturdays as required. We are hiring for two roles for the following shifts:
10am
- 7pm

12pm
- 9pm

**Travel**

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

**Education and Experience**
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2-3 years of experience working with youth.

**Certification Requirements**
- First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 60 days of hire.

**Conditions of Hire**
- A satisfactory criminal background and reference check, a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record are required at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
