We are currently seeking a **_Medical Assistant_**_ _**_Extern_** **for Meridian Health Pediatrics located in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana.
- Answering phone calls
- Greeting clients
- Updating patient information
- Filling out insurance paperwork and prior approvals
- Helping the provider to complete arrangements for referrals, admissions and laboratory referrals.

**Clinical duties include**:

- Taking vitals and weight
- Giving injections
- Assist providers
- Pass medications
- Screen provider phone calls and assist with problem calls
- Give TB tests for new employees
- Medication passes, including patient assistance meds
- Train to cover other MA's and their duties
- Dispose of contaminated supplies
- Fax and phoning in of patient medications to other pharmacies
- Maintain confidentiality and use good judgment within the limits of the CMA guidelines and follow department policies and procedures

**Qualific**ations**:

- Must be currently enrolled in an Accredited Medical Assisting Program requiring an externship
- Drug screen, TB test, extensive background check, and fingerprinting are required of all Meridian employees. Meridian Health Services recommends that all individuals who join Meridian have a flu shot and Covid vaccination to further protect our staff and the patients we serve. We also adhere to Covid-related protocol including wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing._
