**Title**: Certified Peer Specialist

**Program**: Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT)

**Reports To**: Clinical Coordinators

**Hours Per Week**: 35 (Full-Time)

**Salary Range**: 40-50K

**Summary Description**: The **_MCRT Certified Peer Specialist_** plays a vital role in providing direct peer support services to individuals experiencing mental health crises. They contribute to treatment team planning, assist in outreach efforts, and promote a culture of respect and recovery within the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). This position requires adherence to trauma-informed, de-escalation, and harm reduction techniques while engaging with diverse populations, including law enforcement and emergency services.

**_ Key Responsibilities:_**
- Enhance initial outreach and engagement efforts for participants and families.
- Assist in promoting a recovery-oriented approach to outreach and engagement.
- Provide concrete and social support to clients and families through case management.
- Contribute to shaping the team's culture towards person-centered, recovery-focused service delivery.
- Engage daily with law enforcement, emergency services, and other stakeholders.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures, maintaining professional boundaries.
- Operate agency vehicles as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or substance use conditions.
- Familiarity with Trauma-Informed and Person-Centered Practices.
- Strong crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and Electronic Health Record systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural humility.

**_ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):_**
- Participant engagement and retention rates.
- Feedback from clients and team members on the quality of support provided.
- Adherence to trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.
- Timely and accurate documentation in Electronic Health Record systems.
- Compliance with confidentiality standards and regulatory requirements.

**_ Requirements_**:

- State certification as a Peer Specialist or provisional certification at the time of hire.
- Understanding of confidentiality standards as per state and federal regulations.
- Reliable, independent worker with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Completion of New York State Defensive Driving certification.
- Clearance from NYS Justice Center, Office of Children and Family Services, and Medicaid Exclusion List.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.

**Special Considerations**:Full-time position with rotating weekends and holidays required. Ability to travel within the service area, operate agency vehicles, and engage in outreach activities that may involve prolonged standing, walking, and sitting.
