Security Officer - Local Counseling Center

**CURRENT OPENING**:
**1st Shift**
- ** Monday - Thursday: 8am - 12pm**
**3rd Shift**
- ** Saturday & Sunday: 12AM - 8AM**
- ** Part-Time**
**LOCATION**: Grand Rapids, MI
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**: As an unarmed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary depending on the site you are working. School Security Officers will focus on building positive relationships with teachers, students, and parents to aid in the effort to give all children a safe environment for learning and growth opportunities. School Security Officers will need to have excellent communication and mediating skills.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- ** Access Control** - Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site and ensuring vehicles leaving facilities are not leaving with unauthorized goods and materials.
- ** Foot Patrol** - Walk the interior and exterior of the various buildings on site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
- ** Monitor Parking Areas**-** **Traffic Control for key pick up and drop off times
**SUCCESS** as a Security Officer at DK Security will look like:
- ** Reliability** - Report for your shift on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
- ** Friendly** **Personality**:
- Being able to balance our expectations of outstanding customer service while maintaining client policies and enforcing rules.
- ** Following Company and Client Policies** - Be able to read and interpret written post guidelines, follow procedures as outlined and ensure all tasks are completed throughout the shift.
- ** Use of De-escalation Techniques** - Being able to defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and randomly thereafter.
- Must present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Must be willing to become CPR/1st Aide/AED Certified
- Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
- Less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
- No other major violations in the last 3 years.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- ** Phone Interview**:

- ** Basic Officer Training**:
- Video and Hands-on training regarding skills and techniques important for all Security Officers.
- ** Meet with our HR Team** - Complete your onboarding process, in-house drug testing, issuing of uniforms, and photo ID badge, meet with your Operations Manager.
- ** On the Job Training (OJT)** - Depending on the site location, you will complete anywhere from 2-40+ hours of On-The-Job training, learning the client-specific policies and procedures of the location you're assigned to.
