This position is located under the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Operational Intelligence Division, Joint Support and Operations Center (JSOC) in Washington, DC.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide law enforcement communications support to Special Agents of the Bureau.

As an Intelligence Program Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:
The GS-9 grade level is a developmental position and is more closely monitored by a senior employee or supervisor:
Extracts statistical data from varied sources for investigative/intelligence reports; notes trends and patterns, recognizing the need to call attention to higher level officials to report important new information, which requires further examination.
Develops, refines and evaluates automated data and serves as the focal point to ensure the effective communication of data necessary to provide enforcement information.
Provides law enforcement communications support to special agents of the Bureau and responsible for handling routine radio/telephone communications as well as providing communication tactical support in potentially life-threatening situations.
Developing data retrieval documents and linking patterns of criminal acts to a variety of criminal activities.
Responds to specific requests of all types of investigative data and assistance from special agents (e.g., criminal histories, investigative leads, movements of criminals, requests to dispatch tactical support, etc.)

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

**MOBILITY PLAN**: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. The purpose of ATF's mobility policy is to enhance career development and progression, and achieve mission and business effectiveness. To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau. Applicants who decline to sign a mobility agreement, as required, will be removed from the hiring process.

**Key Requirements**:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
May be required to serve a one year probationary period.

**Qualifications**:
You qualify for this position at the GS-9 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-7) in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Providing operational support in an emergency response or law enforcement environment; AND
Using technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, various databases) to extract data and develop reports.

OR

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR

Combination of education and experience.
