SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Student Affairs is responsible to provide overall leadership and oversee the Student Affairs department in the absence of the Director, including assistance with Campus Life and Graduate Services department. This position works directly with students on their academic and flight progress, including goal setting, tracking progress, general student data analytics, and student retention efforts. This position, in conjunction with the entire department, works to ensure that students reach their personal and professional goals.

The Assistant Director of Student Affairs must uphold the philosophy and mission of the University while instilling positive and progressive attitudes in all employees.

JOB REQUIREMENTS include but are not limited to the following:
COMPLIANCE:

- Responsible for compliance with all local, state, accreditation and federal regulations.
- Ensures that all employees and students are held accountable to the company’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
- Ensures completeness, accuracy, and security of relevant campus files, documents, and reports.
- Directs, trains and reviews necessary policies and procedures with employees to ensure a culture of compliance.

SUPERVISION (when necessary):

- Working with the Director, the Assistant Director oversees all duties of the Student Affairs department.
- Manages direct reports as applicable.
- Conducts interviews, hires, trainings and terminations as applicable.
- Manages and ensure Student Affairs employees’ performance standards if necessary.
- Ensures through proper monitoring and communication Student Success employees adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensures Student Affairs employees’ performance reviews and disciplinary actions are completed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

- Creates an environment that fosters trust, provides training and development for employees, duties ethically, and is motivational to employees.
- Ensures all students complete orientation modules for either residential or distance education modalities.
- Ensures all weekly reports are being generated.
- Maintains consistent tracking and data-based goals for overall university student population.
- Provides academic advising to new and continuing students.
- Serves as a positive liaison and promoter of positive relationships between faculty and students.
- Ensures documentation needed by Registrar is accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
- Develops and provides resources for the success of residential and online students.
- Documents student communications in Campus Vue and coordinate relevant student information among departments.
- Identifies students who may benefit from one-on-one advising, tutoring sessions, and mentoring opportunities through data-based decision making.
- Drives improvements in student satisfaction and retention.
- Works with site coordinators and Veteran Services staff to maintain individual student tracking and data-based goals for student progress.
- Participates in faculty meetings to promote instructor awareness of student issues.
- Organizes student awards and recognition activities and plans and/or executes the issuance of awards and recognition activities to students.
- Assists in the coordination of special events such as graduation ceremonies and advancement ceremonies
- Serves in the absence of the Director of Student Affairs for all Student Affairs activities and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and academics experience required. Two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to interact in a pleasant and professional manner with all types of people. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, set and meet deadlines and manage unexpected situations. Previous teaching experience beneficial. Strong technology skills necessary. Management and/or supervisory training, or previous experience with vocational rehabilitation agencies helpful.

TRAVEL DEMANDS:
Travel to various conferences and/or trainings may require overnight stays, and the number of nights is dictated by company and/or by the schedule of events.

The employee must have the ability to travel to various locations as necessary. Must have vehicle suitable to safe and secure transportation. The employee may be required to transport company documents and/or company assets.
