**The mission of Centinela Youth Services, Inc. (CYS) **is to strengthen families and communities and help build successful students and productive adults, leveraging the principles of restorative justice to empower peaceful conflict resolution. We are committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline, and disproportionately impact youth of color. CYS operates a variety of innovative programs that are proven to increase student performance; reduce school dropout rates, gang involvement, youth violence and crime and ultimately help preserve families. CYS is leading innovation that is transforming youth justice in LA and the state, with a commitment to both youth development and serving victims of youth crime, while impacting systemic change to end the school to prison pipeline. CYS is also providing leadership to critical juvenile justice reform in LA County, and as a result is growing rapidly.

**Compensation**

This is a part time (up to 29 hours per week) position on an as-needed/as-available basis. There will be weeks that will have no activity, depending on training commitments. **Salary is commensurate with experience.**

**Work location**

This role allows for a blend of remote work and in-office presence at our Inglewood location as well as occasional assignments at partnering organizations. This position is primarily based remotely with on-site trainings occurring within Los Angeles County. Future training opportunities may include travel within California or to other parts of the United States.

**Schedule**

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Passionate about Restorative and Trauma-Informed Practices.
- Experience with Conflict Resolution and De-Escalation Strategies.
- Exhibit an engaging and interesting training style.
- Able to connect with varied and/or difficult audiences.
- Empathetic towards different perspectives.
- Adaptive to audience needs while adhering to training objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain neutrality, and quickly build rapport and trust with varied stakeholders.
- Must possess a passion for empowering community engagement and giving others the structure and support they need to be able to actively contribute their full talents in a meaningful way to support the CYS mission.
- Willingness to learn new training content and methods of delivery.
- Experience with some of the training topic areas and/or target training audiences listed above.
- Must be able to handle stress and manage time effectively.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Comprehensive training or education related to Conflict Resolution or Restorative Justice.
- Prior experience utilizing tech equipment, online learning tools, and platforms.
- Proficient knowledge of CYS programs.
- Prior experience with coaching/evaluation of CYS Mediators or possession of a CYS Mediator Certificate.
- Bilingual - Spanish-speaking is helpful, but not required.

**General Functions and Responsibilities**:

This position reports directly to the Training and Technical Assistance Manager. This position will conduct highly interactive and engaging trainings for CYS stakeholders and partners on a periodic basis. Trainings will not have a traditional lecture format and will vary in length; 1-4 hours, full day, or multi-day. For example, Victim-Offender Restitution Services (VORS) or Families Able to Resolve Situations (FARS) Mediation Training is approx. 25 hours in total for each program. We are looking for a commitment of multiple trainings per year, depending on availability and demand. Training locations will primarily be remote and/or within Los Angeles County.
