- The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.The Office of Strategy, Innovation and Planning (SIP) guides strategy, capacity building, systems design, and reform across ACS. As a support unit, the office is committed to collaborative practice designed around the principles of community engagement, transparency, and cultural humility. The primary functions of the team include policy and data analysis; strategy design and innovation; program management and implementation support; participatory research and design; continuous quality improvement and sustainability. The office’s work promotes openness and partnership across ACS’s divisions and supports self-determination of all stakeholders, especially the children and families being served. The team brings a racial equity and social justice lens and a systems orientation to its work. The team is recruiting a new member who is excited to do this work and energized to make positive change for the children and families of New York City.
- Reporting to the Director of Strategy, Innovation and Planning; the Strategy, Innovation and Planning Associate is responsible for the following:
- Provide project planning and management support for various child welfare system initiatives to assure high-quality implementation and sustainability.
- Conduct research and analysis regarding systems improvement, including review and summary of best practices and academic articles, and undertaking information-gathering from internal and external stakeholders.
- Support assessments of policies, processes, and services to identify gaps and recommend effective strategies for improvement and new programming.
- Plan and carry out focus groups, interviews, and surveys to gather accurate information for reform efforts.
- Prepare data displays, work plans and flow charts that clearly convey information and draft reports to support policy formulation, practice reform, and systems improvement.
- Collaborate and communicate with diverse internal and external stakeholders on matters related to systems improvement projects.
- Provide administrative support for various projects, which includes preparing agendas and correspondence, scheduling, and attending meetings and conference calls, taking meeting minutes and facilitating team development and review of documents.
