Summary

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.

Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Victim Witness Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of routine assistance and liaison services to crime victims and witnesses to facilitate prosecutions.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

**Typical work assignments will include**:
Provides authoritative advice to District USAO Management and acts as a focal point for victim matters within the District.
Plans, directs, and performs victim assistance program operations within the District.
Serves as liaison between U.S. Attorney and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies on victim matters.

You must successfully pass a background investigation. This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.
A probationary period may be required.
A pre-employment drug test may be required.
All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit to a financial institution of their choosing.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

**Qualifications**:
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**: To be considered mínimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
**To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess**:
**Specialized Experience**: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) the duties listed below:
Providing resource referral counseling to crime victims and/or their families;
Identifying routine resources that are available to provide referral to crime victims and/or their families;
Collaborating with law enforcement personnel, Federal investigative victim specialists and/or social service providers.
Assisting crime victims to access victim assistance funding or services needed.
OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.

**To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must possess**:
**Specialized Experience**: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) the duties listed below:
Identifying and/or developing emergency or follow-up resources within the community, state or federal areas to provide to victims;
Performing program and/or project management (i.e. oversight of resources, implement strategic planning, develop measurable program results, oversee the administration of funding);
Providing training to assure compliance with laws and/or policy concerning crime victims.
OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
