**THE POSITION**:

**DESCRIPTION OF WORK**:
As part of this position, your responsibilities will involve examining various aspects of transportation construction work, including verifying grades, elevations, structure stake-out, and roadway stake-out in collaboration with the contractor or surveyor. Additionally, you will be responsible for inspecting the proper placement of materials such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage materials, and any other materials relevant to transportation construction. Moreover, you will conduct compaction testing using a visual non-movement method for sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregate. It is crucial to maintain effective communication and collaboration with Department staff, federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the general public to ensure the successful execution of the projects.

**Work Schedule and Additional Information**:

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
- Vendor-controlled position; flex schedule
- ** Telework**:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.

**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Minimum Experience and Training Requirements**:

- One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); **or**:

- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); **or**:

- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; **or**:

- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; **or**:

- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; **or**:

- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

**Special Requirement**:

- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
