**Job Summary**:
The Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures, ensuring that finances are accurate and up-to-date, and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Invoice Processing**:

- Receive and verify invoices for goods and services.
- Ensure invoices are accurate, properly coded, and have appropriate approval.
- Enter and upload invoices into the accounting system.
- **Payment Processing**:

- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
- Prepare and perform check runs.
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records.
- **Vendor Relations**:

- Reconcile vendor statements and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor files and handle inquiries from vendors.
- Negotiate with vendors to achieve better payment terms and discounts.
- **Record Keeping**:

- Maintain thorough, well-organized accounts payable files.
- Assist in month-end closing and accruals.
- Prepare analysis of accounts as required.
- **Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- **Communication**:

- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
- Communicate with the finance team and management regarding issues and discrepancies.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles and AP processes.
- Experience with accounting software (Sage Business Works/NexGen) is a plus.
- **Skills**:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- **Attributes**:

- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**Working Conditions**:

- Typical office environment with occasional extended hours during peak periods.
- May require occasional lifting of office supplies and materials.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.50 per hour
