Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent

Under the general direction of the Senior Landscape Architect (SLA), the Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent Specialist(CMAS) serves as the District Maintenance Water Manager. The incumbent directs the development of water management practices and policies that advocate the efficient use of water resources and is responsible for implementing, evaluating, and sustaining the highway landscape irrigation systems in District 11. Maintains data consistency of various systems including the Remote Irrigation Control System (RICS), Geospatial Information System (GIS), Datalink database, invoice tracking, and field meter readings. The incumbent will advise and consult with top-level district and statewide management, and help develop and implement the district's response to the State of California's water usage policies. The position requires a Class C drivers license.

Office work performed in a climate-controlled environment under artificial light. Field reviews may expose the incumbent to heat or inclement weather, blown dust, traffic or equipment noise and uneven terrain. Appropriate safety gear provided by the Department will be worn for field reviews. Possession of a valid driver's license is required to operate a State vehicle.
